چکیده
Objectives: We aimed to reduce the overall surgical-site infection (SSI) rate 0.2%. Methods: A new checklist protocol was developed based on APSIC guidelines. The bundle for preoperative preparation implemented: adequate bathing, proper time of hand-forearm washing, and sufficient contact antiseptic application. compliance monitored with a weekly control chart from December 2019 November 2020. Results: In total, 9,995 cases were operated at Narasuan University Hospital (NUH) in 2020, classified by surgical wound type as follows: clean wound, 62.6%; clean-contaminated 32.1%; contaminated 0.8%; dirty 4.5%. According type, mean bathing 68.22% wounds, 68.33% 34.82% wounds. Hand hygiene higher surgeries (mean, 94.01%) 95.05%) than 88.30%). high percentage achieved 3 groups. skin group 89.05%) 90.70%) 68.12%). lower might be due constraints operations. Only 0.18% clean-wound operations had SSIs, 0.19% whereas no SSIs occurred SSI 0.17%; thus, we our goal. Conclusions: infection-prevention preparations reduced SSI. Furthermore, highly tangible positive impact both internal external stakeholders, it effective ensuring good practice regarding preparation.

Preoperative chlorhexidine preparation and the incidence of surgical site infections after hip arthroplasty.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate effectiveness of an advance, at-home chlorhexidine-impregnated skin preparation cloth in decreasing the incidence of deep periprosthetic hip arthroplasty infections. Arthroplasty surgeons at the senior author's institution provided their patients with chlorhexidine-impregnated single-use cloths for use at home the night before and the morning of surgery...
متن کاملVisibility of Surgical Site Marking After Preoperative Skin Preparation
OBJECTIVE It is important that during preoperative skin preparation surgical site markings are not erased. The effects of 2 common types of skin preparation solutions on surgical site markings were compared. METHODS Fasciocutaneous skin flaps were harvested and 20 random combinations of 3 letters were written on the skin flaps with a black permanent marker. Ten of the 3-letter combinations re...

Primitive ancestors of Homo sapiens and their colonizing bacteria have coevolved for approximately 500,000 years; some experts estimate that the total number of human cells is 1013 and the total number of colonizing microbes is 1014. Despite this 10-to-1 inequity, the balance of power is influenced by an intact human immune system and the integrity of the skin and mucous membranes. Operative pr...

BACKGROUND Surgical site infection (SSI) rates are publicly reported as quality metrics and increasingly used to determine financial reimbursement. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the volume-outcome relationship as well as the year-to-year stability of performance rankings following coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and hip arthroplasty. RESEARCH DESIGN We performed a retrospective cohort s...

Surgical site infections (SSIs) lead to adverse patient outcomes, including prolonged hospitalization and death. Wound contamination occurs with each incision, but proven strategies exist to decrease the risk of SSIs. In particular, improved adherence to evidence-based preventative measures related to appropriate antimicrobial prophylaxis can decrease the rate of SSI. Aggressive surgical debrid...
